Gateway Communications own and operate a pan African communications network. They have a carrier services business unit who provide solutions connecting mobile phone and fixed line operators in Africa to each other and to the rest of the world, and a business services business unit that connects large corporations and multinationals working in Africa. Gateway Communications provide satellite cellular backhaul; international and regional voice and mobile broadband solutions to Africa. They sell voice and data services to enterprises in 40 countries in sub Saharan Africa. Bought by Vodacom in December 2008 for US$675m Gateway Communications use satellite, sub sea cable (including SEACOM), wireless and fibre connectivity. The company is now 65% owned by Vodafone since Vodafone increased its share in Vodacom. They have 21 offices in 17 African countries as well as 4 European countries. Gateway Communications has invested in several sub-sea cables, some of which include SEACOM, EASSy, WACS and SAT3. Gateway Communications owns and operates the largest and most advanced pan-African telecommunications network. Gateway Communications was the first company to invest in SEACOM, which is bringing 1.28 Tbit/s of capacity to the continent. ==Gateway Business Africa== Gateway Business Africa (GBA) provides pan-African data hosting services and telecommunications services in 42 sub-Saharan countries and employs 350 people in Africa. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Africa mobile phone company Vodacom,〔(), Bloomberg Business Week.〕 which is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange under the symbol VOD. Gateway Business is the brand name of Vodacom Business Africa, the statutory entity under which it operates. They have offices in Angola, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, France and the UK.
